Child-exploitation investigation involved Barrie police, OPP and FBI

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics, Barrie Police Service and Huronia West OPP Detachment have arrested and charged a Hillsdale man following a three-month child exploitation investigation.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit received information from The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Atlanta relating to the internet exploitation of children. On Feb. 14, 2019, search warrants were executed at a residence in Hillsdale and at a commercial property in Barrie.

Jeffery Krause, 49 years of age, was arrested and is charged with invitation to sexual touching, possession of child pornography, making child pornography and accessing child pornography. Three computer devices were seized for further examination.

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Feb. 15, 2019, at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Barrie, Ont.

The investigation is continuing.
