Charges laid after driver fails to stop for cops in Wasaga

Midland man, 20, faces slew of charges; passenger also charged
opp - too small!

WASAGA BEACH - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid several charges in this investigation.    

The male driver, Dawson Dion (20) of the town of Midland, faces seven charges stemming from the original call for service on Baseline Road in Tiny Township on Nov. 24, 2018.   

  • Drive While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Care or Control Over 80 mgs contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code 
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code
  • Mischief contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Dion was held for a bail court on the date of arrest. 

A female passenger, Georgia Quanbury (19) of the town of Midland, has been charged with, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. Quanbury was released on a Promise to Appear for Jan. 10, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland.
