The cause of death in a crash that closed Highway 400's northbound lanes last night in the Bradford area remains unknown, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Sgt. Martin Hill, a member of the OPP's Highway Safety Division, told BarrieToday that a male driver of a black sedan collided with the guardrail before striking another vehicle near Highway 88.
“(There was a) collision and a person was pronounced deceased and they will be going to Toronto today for post-mortem,” Hill said Thursday morning.
No serious injuries were sustained by the occupants of the second vehicle, he confirmed.
Highway 400 reopened to traffic around 10:30 p.m., Wednesday.
The original tweet by OPP noted investigators were determining whether or not the crash was medically related was unclear at the time.

“I would only be speculating,” Hill said when asked if the cause had yet to be determined.
Highway 400's northbound lanes, between Highway 88 and Highway 89, were closed and traffic was rerouted for several hours while officers were at the scene and appeared to be searching the area on foot, where two compact cars sat stopped on the highway.
Hill said he was unable to provide the name, age or hometown of the deceased at this time.
