A report of a body in a canal turned out to be a false alarm, but not before a police dive unit got involved in helping with the investigation.

South Simcoe police said that on Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected body in a canal in Bradford.

The location was in the Pumphouse Road and Canal Road area, just east of town, according to police.

South Simcoe officers were assisted by the York Regional Police dive unit in determining what was in the canal was actually a mannequin.

Police said on Twitter that “there are no criminal concerns at this time” in relation to the incident.
