Barrie teen drowns at Wasaga Beach

Police say he was found in the water with vital signs absent

On June 30, 2020 at approximately 3 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Policem Simcoe EMS, and Wasaga Beach Fire were called to Beach Area 6 in the town of Wasaga Beach for reports of a male who had gone swimming with friends but did not return.

Emergency personnel attended the scene, where they discovered the male in the water with vital signs absent; he was subsequently transported to a local hospital.

The victim, Jaiden Milnes, 19 years of age, a Barrie resident, was pronounced deceased at the hospital by physicians. His death has been deemed as an accidental drowning.
