Last night (Thursday), as a result of an ongoing investigation that was conducted by detectives from the Barrie Police Drug Enforcement Unit, a 41-year-old male, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with possession, trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.

Police also seized a quantity of Canadian currency from the accused upon his arrest.

The investigation continued overnight at Barrie Police Headquarters and concluded with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant early in the morning. That search warrant resulted in the seizure of a semi-automatic shotgun and ammunition.

The accused, who has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, is facing a total of eight Criminal Code and CDSA charges.
