Barrie man faces impaired charges in Midland

MIDLAND - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 12:17 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2019 to a report from the public of a male driver passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a business parking lot on Midland Avenue.

Officers located the vehicle and the male driver who when spoken to displayed signs of drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the arrival of the officers. A drinking and driving investigation lead the investigation officer to proceed with the following driving charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada against Trevor Dupre 34 years old of Barrie:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Sept. 5, 2019, his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days along with his driver's licence that has been suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers.

Officers remind motorists and operators that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways, waterways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority and stress that drivers/operators make the right choice and never drive impaired.
