Barrie man charged in Guelph-area armed robbery investigation

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On May 15, 2021 at approximately 5 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an armed robbery at a residence on Sideroad 15 near Wellington Road 19, Centre Wellington Township.

Members of the Wellington County Crime Unit, Community Street Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit assisted with the investigation.

It was reported that three suspects entered the residence and confronted the occupants armed with a handgun. The suspects stole household items including electronics.

There were no reported injuries to the victims.

With the assistance of Collingwood OPP, the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Tactical and Rescue Unit, four suspects were arrested later the same day in a vehicle near the Town of Stayner.

Police executed search warrants resulting in the recovery of stolen property and weapon.

The following persons have been charged and were held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph.

A 16-year-old youth from Fergus:
    •    Robbery with a weapon (two counts)
    •    Point firearm (three counts)
    •    Utter threats to cause bodily harm or death
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking

Jayden Brown, 22 years old from Burlington:
    •    Robbery with a weapon
    •    Point firearm
    •    Disguise with intent
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking

Christopher Stewart, 40 years old from Barrie, has been charged with robbery with a weapon.

Jaymar Gayle, 27 years old from Mississauga has been charged with possession of property obtained by crimes.
