In June of this year, the Barrie Police Service contacted the Ontario Provincial Police to conduct an investigation.

On June 27, a 10-year sworn member of the Barrie Police Service was charged with assault. During criminal proceedings, the charges were withdrawn.

“We hold our members to the highest standards and accountability,” said Chief Kimberley Greenwood. “I thank the Ontario Provincial Police for their work in this investigation and I am confident that all our members, sworn and civilian, will continue to provide professional and quality service, as we remain committed to our community.”

The Barrie Police Service will not be releasing any information regarding the specifics of the allegations or the name of the officer in order to protect the identity of the victim.
