Alliston woman dies in collision that also sends five to hospital

One driver and a child passenger were taken to hospital with life-threatening injures

A 70-year-old woman from Alliston died Saturday in a two-vehicle crash, according to Nottawasaga OPP.

Provincial police were notified of collision involving a grey sports utility vehicle and a red sedan in the area of Highway 89, west of Veteran's Drive, around 10 a.m. on March 18.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle and a child passenger in the back were transported to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, along with two children, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the time of the collision.

A road closure was in effect for several hours as members of the Nottawasaga OPP and members trained in traffic reconstruction investigated the collision scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
