On Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, police responded with ambulance to an address on Little Avenue, in the City of Barrie, for a medical assist.

A 27-year-old Barrie male was located within his home without vital signs, as a result of a suspected Fentanyl overdose.

The male was revived by paramedics who administered Narcan Nasal Spray. The male was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for further medical treatment.

Police are warning recreational drug users that Fentanyl cannot be detected visually or by smell or taste, and can often be misrepresented and sold by drug dealers as other drugs. The consumption of any drug, including Fentanyl, is not one without risk.

Anyone with information on the illegal use or sale of Fentanyl can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at www.tipsubmit.com.

Crime Stoppers will offer a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the seizure of illicit Fentanyl or derivatives for the purpose of trafficking and/or the arrest of individuals involved in trafficking Fentanyl in our communities.
