911 call in Penetang leads to firearms charges

PENETANGUISHENE - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call to the OPP Communications Centre of male threatening another male with a firearm at a Chatham Street residence at 3:30 a.m. July 29, 2019.

Responding officers attended the scene and further investigation led them to a Main Street apartment were officers located a male suspect without incident.

Officers continued to investigate the incident and at 9:15 a.m. they arrested Tanner McCue, 22 years old, of Midland.

He remains in custody facing the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada-

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order- 2 counts
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Assault with A Weapon

He will be appearing for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 30, 2019.
