BRADFORD, ON - On Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, South Simcoe Police were called to a Bradford home for a report of a domestic assault.

Officers learned that a woman had been assaulted and threatened by her husband in that home on on Dec. 28. The assault ended when a relative entered the room.

A 27-year-old Bradford man was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic assault and uttering threats. He was released on conditions to reside elsewhere and avoid the victim while he awaits a January court date.

Festive RIDE

Officers from our Festive RIDE team were out on New Year's Eve.

An afternoon spot check on Innisfil Beach Road stopped 95 drivers, none of whom had been drinking. All were reminded to choose an alternative to driving under the influence after their evening's festivities.

During the evening, officers stopped 463 cars at various locations in Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil. 21 roadside screening device tests were conducted, resulting in three warn-range driver's licence suspensions.

Poor Driving Weather

South Simcoe Police responded to a number of weather related collisions, and several reports of vehicles skidding off the road into ditches during the day and overnight.

Drivers are reminded to alter their driving habits to account for poor weather. Slow down in snowy and icy conditions, and leave extra room for stopping. Clear your car completely, and make sure you have sufficient windshield washer fluid to complete your trip.

See snow, go slow.
