Ontario's police watchdog investigating death of 41-year-old man in Toronto

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the death of a 41-year-old man in east-end Toronto.

In a news release Sunday, the Special Investigations Unit says Toronto police were called to a home in Scarborough for "unknown trouble" around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The agency says the man “sustained a serious injury” after making contact with the police negotiator.

It says police gave the man first aid until paramedics arrived.

They say the man was taken to hospital where he died.

A post-mortem is scheduled for Monday and the SIU says four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
