Man, 70, charged in historical sex assaults on girls in Toronto

TORONTO — An Oshawa, Ont., man is facing more than a dozen charges in sexual assaults that allegedly took place in Toronto in the 1990s.

Police say the suspect befriended children in his social circle between 1994 and 1996.

They allege he sexually assaulted girls between then ages of nine and 14 in Toronto's Scarborough area.

The suspect, now 70 years old, is charged with six counts of sexual assault, five of sexual interference and two of invitation to sexual touching.

Police say he made a first appearance in court in late October.
