(September 30, 1933 - September 23, 2018) - Gladys Young passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Hospice Simcoe, 5 days before her 85th birthday. Loving wife of 65 years to Neil Young. Precious Mother of David (Marni), Mark (Susan), Annemarie (Michel), and Liza (Tim). Cherished grandmother to Carl (Sarah), Benoit (Jennifer), Stephanie (Tyler), Jon Phillip, Nicolas, Kevin (Hannah), Claire (Quinn), Emilie (Félix). Beloved Great-Grandmother to Alexandra, Landen and Billie. Also left in grief are Gladys’s siblings of Manitoba, John and Shirley (Doug), as well as family and friends not listed here. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 65 Amelia Street, Barrie, on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Dr. C. Rebecca Verhaeghe gave exceptional care to Gladys and touched the hearts of her family profoundly. The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care and involvement received from staff of the Saint-Elizabeth Health Centre, as well as the CCAC. Special thanks go to staff at Hospice Simcoe. Their wonderful, gentle and patient care of Gladys and her family will not be forgotten and greatly contributed to their well-being during this tough time.
