Passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 2, 2018 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Hastings) for 65 years. Dear father of Wayne (Patsy), Hugh (Pam), Carol Hayes (Dave), and Bill (Sylvia). Proud grandpa of Jamie, Greg, Mike, Laura, Kristi, Jesse, Gavin, and Faith. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Mary, brothers Clarence and Eric, and sister Mary. Always loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews and other dear family members. Guests will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Monday January 8, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Doug’s life will take place the next day, Tuesday January 9, at Faith Alive Christian Church of Barrie, 110 Line 7 South, Oro-Medonte, Ontario with visitation from 12 pm until the service starts at 1 pm. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place at Guthrie Cemetery in the spring.
