It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Grace, peacefully in her sleep Friday, July 29, 2016 at Woods Park Care Centre in Barrie in her 93rd year. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Albert West. Loving mother of Dianne (Wallace) Jones of Barrie and Larry (Judith) West of Udora. Cherished grandmother to Kimberley Jones of Richmond Hill, Tracy (Phil) DeRosa of Georgetown, and Duane (Sarah) Jones of Barrie. Great grandmother to Austin, Jordan, Zachary and Nicholas Jones. Grace leaves behind one surviving sibling, Shirley (Douglas) Ross of Oakville, and predeceased by Wilbert (Winifred) Blake and Verna (William) Vaughan.
Grace was born November 24, 1923 in London, Ontario. Grace met Albert West of Erindale (Mississauga) at Hands Fireworks where they worked and they were married in 1951. They built their home on Glengarry Road in Mississauga and they lived there for many years. She helped brothers Albert and Ken build and run the West Bros. Flooring business. Grace and Albert built their dream cottage in Port Severn in 1968 and retired there in 1978. When Albert passed away in 1982, Grace returned to Mississauga while maintaining the Port Severn cottage for family gatherings for several years.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nursing care at Woods Park Care Centre of Barrie for the kind and compassionate care they provided in Grace’s final days. In keeping with Grace’s wishes, a cremation and private family service will take place. A celebration of Grace’s life is planned to be held at a future date. In our hearts, you will always be loved and remembered.
