The family of Carole is sad to announce her peaceful passing on October 18, 2016. We were all so happy she had a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Arriving in the Port of New York with her cousin Lee from Southampton, England, where she was born, she never looked back. She moved to Canada with her first husband, Hugh Anderson, an RCAF flying officer. They raised their two children (Susan & Mark) in Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Chicoutimi (Bagotville). Summers were spent at the lake in Shanty Bay where she developed a love for the area. While in Ottawa, Carole found an interesting job with The Le Dain Commission on the Non-Medical Use of Drugs (very helpful in raising two teens in high-school). She was passionate about politics, volunteering on many campaigns. Next up was the job at The Ottawa Board of Trade where she held the position of General Manager. In 1995 she married her second pilot, Roger Welsman. This was a match made in heaven, as they shared a passion for family, travel, scotch nosing, and hosting fabulous parties at Vennot, their beloved Shanty Bay home, and later, at their lakefront condo in Barrie. Their travel adventures included countless road trips around North America, trans-Atlantic cruises, and two trips around the world with extended stays in Australia. In their early years, it was not unusual for Roger to fly Carole in his Cessna, somewhere for lunch. It was truly a life well-lived. We conjecture her only regrets would be missing her next book-club meeting, her 86th birthday in a few weeks, and her planned cruise of The Panama Canal in January. A hallmark of Carole’s life was her ability to create and maintain lasting friendships. She single-handedly kept Canada Post and the birthday card industry in business. She is survived by her amazing husband Roger Welsman, her children Susan (Michael) and Mark (Gizel) and Roger’s children Jan (Carl), Tim, Larry (Ben), Phil, Amy (Kevin), and grandchildren Andrew, Eric, Camron (Yana), Emma, Bronwyn, Cadan, Robyn, and great-granddaughter Lucy. She is pre-deceased by her parents Kit and Fred Tizard and brother Bern (Terry). A service will be held on October 29th, 1:30 PM at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, 28 Church Street, Oro-Medonte (Shanty Bay), Ontario, L0L 2L0. Should you be inclined, donations to the church would be welcomed in Carole’s memory. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca.
