Brian Walkoski

The family wishes to announce the passing of Brian on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital where he was provided exceptional care and compassion. Born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan he was the oldest son of Henry and Dorothy Walkoski. Most of his childhood was spent growing up on the prairies with his two younger brothers Mark and Kevin but as a railroading family Brian moved to Kenora in 1972 when his father transferred there for work. At first he worked several jobs in the local retail business before hiring onto the Canadian Pacific Railway in L977, eventually retiring as a Conductor/Brakeman in 2OO7 after 30 years of service with the Company. Our memory of Brian is that of a gentle, soft-spoken man of few words, who enjoyed organizing hockey pools, the days of CPR curling, feeding the birds and neighborhood dogs with treat biscuits, watching allthe sports channels, and his daily walks around town. Brian was predeceased by his father Henry in2OO4. He will be dearly missed by his mother Dorothy Walkoski, his brother Mark, nephew James Walkoski (Rebecca & Elizabeth), nephew Darren Walkoski (Sammy Yarr), his brother Kevin (Mary), nephew Michael Walkoski, niece Brenda Walkoski (Colin King & Callum), and niece Leanne Tyrvainen (Brandon & Brynlee). Brian also leaves to cherish his memory to his only daughter Christie Lee Walkoski, grandchildren Emilee, Taylor & Nicholas Faetz, step-daughter Veronica Bowerman, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, relatives & friends. We especially wish to thank Dave Jackson for his kindness and support shown Brian over the last 5 years. At his request, there will be immediate cremation, no funeral service, with a private interment to be in Lloydminster, SK alongside his father. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Brian's memory may do so to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Tree of Life Bulb Campaign; 21 Sylvan St, Kenora, ON, P9N 3W7 for new Hospital equipment or to the Heart & Stroke Association; 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 1300, Box 2414, Toronto, Ontario, M4P-1E4. We will miss you Big "B"...love you always & forever!
