Clarence (Chuck) Vardy, 82, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday December 3, 2017 at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He will be remembered by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Vardy; his son Kevin Vardy and his wife Maggie; his daughter Cheryl Quint and her husband Thomas; his sister Pearl brothers Brian and Eric; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many close friends.

Chuck was born on June 30th in 1936. From 1954-1956 he sailed throughout Asia while serving in the British Navy. Upon his return from service he married his long time sweetheart Dorothy Whitby. In March 1964 he moved to Canada with his wife and 2 children. He had a wonderful career at Molson’s Canada. From a young age Chuck had a passion for raising and showing birds. Chuck was an accomplished aviculturist, winning and judging many competitions throughout England and Canada. He was an active and dedicated member of the Canadian Finch Society for many years.

Chuck was a great family man, a hard working father and a loving grandfather and great grandfather. He was a caring and passionate man with a true love for life. He had many hobbies and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and fishing. He could often be found on his back deck, with a cup of tea in his hand, smiling while sharing a story with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family would appreciate donations to the Sick Kids Foundation.
