It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Joyce Toomey on February 20, 2016 in Barrie, Ontario at the age of 59. Joyce will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Dorothy (nee Gray) Toomey, and her brother Thomas Toomey. Joyce is survived by her sons Dallas (Nancy) and Geoff (Sylvia), and their children; her brothers Ken (Wendy) Toomey, Donnie (Gerry) Toomey, Paul (Peggy) Toomey, and David Toomey; her sisters, Joanne (Doug) Marshall, Diedre Toomey and fiancé Douglas MacDougall, Chandra (Shane) Dawe, Janice (Brian) Chafe, and Kimberly Toomey; and her close friend, Donna Dick. Joyce was known for her great sense of humour, laughter and love of Christmas! A Caring Soul has passed, but the memories shall never fade. She is now at peace. As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the scattering of her ashes over the mountains of Cape Breton will occur at a later date.
