Sylvia B. Kent (nee Mecredy)

December 7, 1926 – January 8, 2016
Died peacefully on January 8, 2016 at Hospice Simcoe with her loving family by her side. Sylvia much loved wife of 62 years to the late Ernest Kent. Predeceased by her sisters Joan Sliger, Kay Williams and Alice Crowhurst and son in-law Tuny Lem. Devoted and loving mother to Edward Kent (Annette Datil), Jefferson Kent (Pamela Downer), Mary Lem-Storey (Dave Storey), John Kent (Donna) and Geoff Kent (Chris Hall) and daughter in-law Pat Worth. Cherished grandmother of Peter Lem (deceased), Dave Lem (Teena), Leah Kent (Jason Joyce) and Lauren Kent, Anthony Hugh (Melody), Brandon Morrison, Ryan Kent, Joshua Kent, Sharna Kent, Andrea Kent and adored great grandmother Noah Gorsline, Logan Joyce, Alyxianna Lem. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews music students and friends. Sylvia was an accomplished pianist for many years with an ARCT Diploma from the University of Toronto, she was a beloved and esteemed teacher of piano, theory and history in the Barrie area for over 42 years. Sylvia was the former president and treasurer with the Registered Music Teachers Association of Barrie. Our grateful thanks to Hospice Simcoe and Grove Park Home for their loving and compassionate care of Mum. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to the Peter Lem Memorial Fund or Hospice Simcoe. The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held at TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH 24 Collier Street, Barrie on Saturday January 16, 2016 from 1 – 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Sylvia’s Life to follow at 2 o’clock.
