It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the news of our dear, beloved Omarr who passed away on July 23th, 2021, at the Toronto General Hospital.  Omarr tragically died at the young age of 39 after an unexpected illness complicated by his underlying diagnosis of cancer- which he lived with and fought valiantly in the years prior to his passing.
Dearly beloved husband of Kimberley.  Devoted and adored father of three loving children, Xavier 9, Kasiyah 7 and Zahria 3. He was the eldest son of Arlene Chee Foon and Mohammed Syed, stepson to Stephen Robins.  Treasured grandson to Vilma Chee Foon and (Kenrick) Ken Chee Foon, whom he visited in Trinidad on many occasions; a place he called “home”.  Cherished older brother to Jebreil Syed (deceased 2018), Alexia, Nicholas, Nadia, Tyler, Aliya. Admired nephew to Dominic and Michelle, Roxanne and Frankie, Riswana, Naveed and Rehna, Ferzana, and his late uncle Rahil. He will be profoundly missed by his uncles, aunts, many cousins, dear friends, and colleagues.
Omarr embodied the essence of someone who loved life, and loved to experience all things in life.  He was an avid traveler, a nature enthusiast who felt at home and free at the beach and in the outdoors.   He never missed an opportunity to take his family fishing, camping, and vacationing in the sunny Caribbean or exploring the lakes right here at home in our beautiful Ontario.  During his youth, Omarr excelled in competitive hockey and track and field at York University.  A devoted and dedicated father, he shared his athletic passion with his children, never missing a game or practice and always making himself available to volunteer as a hockey, soccer and baseball coach when help was needed so as to be involved at every level with his children. He strived to ensure his children had any and all opportunities open to them now and in the future.
Omarr was determined to share his passion for the law and assist his community through his law practice.  He was well known for his enormous heart and listening ear, especially to his family, friends and as a lawyer to his clients.
While Omarr’s time on earth was much too short, he lived life to the fullest. Omarr loved spending time with his friends and held many close to his heart for decades.  He will continue to be loved and remembered for his loving, compassionate and caring nature; always prepared to give a hand and his time to help someone in need.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Thursday, July 29th, 2021 from 1 – 3 p.m. and 5 – 7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie, on Friday, July 30th at 11 a.m., followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Masks, physical distancing, and capacity limitations are mandatory.   St. John Vianney Parish will have a link to the funeral service for Omarr, please go to https://stjohnvianneyba.archtoronto.org/ and click on the parish life tab at the top and then the live stream link to view the service.
