Suddenly at home on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at the age of 64. Dave is survived by Karen, his cherished wife of 43 years. Dear son of Frances and the late Edward Smith. Honoured father of the late Kerrilyn Smith and of Grant Smith. Loving brother of Karen Trollope and brother-in-law of Lyn Strathy, Doug Roberts, John Roberts, Ross Trollope, Doug Herron and Don Roberts. Will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, his many lifelong friends and colleagues through a 30-year career with Toronto Hydro and, especially, by his dog Clancy. Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Thursday, March 8th, 2018 from 2 pm until the time we celebrate Dave’s life in the Chapel at 3 pm. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospital for Sick Children or to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated by the family.
