It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Mary, at the young age of 71. She passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie on Saturday, April 30, following an afternoon of warm sunshine and live music with family by her side, holding her hands. Loving and dedicated mother of Debbie (Sean), Marnie (Dave) and Steven. The proudest Baba of Cadence, Olivia and Alyssa. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Stella Hanchuk. Cherished sister of Jennie (Eddie), Mike (Judi) and the late Willa. Adored aunt of Donna (Mark), Diane, Denise (Jon), Danny (Brenda), Carol (Dan), Paul (Shari), Jason, Derek (Sara) and Mike (Alayna-Beth). Mary will be fondly remembered by many family, friends and coworkers. Mary was a very caring woman who worked hard all her life. She greatly loved people, music, dancing, entertaining, travelling, playing games, spending time with her granddaughters and scratching tickets. She loved to laugh and had a beautiful smile that will never be forgotten.

Mary’s life will be celebrated with a memorial mass at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church on Friday, May 6 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the hall. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church or Simcoe Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses and personal support workers in Barrie and at Simcoe Hospice. A special thank you to Dr. Morris and Dr. Whelan for their care and compassion.
