Passed away suddenly but peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto at the age of 78. Bernie will be deeply missed by his wife of 37 years, Gail, his children John (Dina), Kevin (Laura), Stephen, Rory, and his grandchildren Sarah (Rob), Amanda, Conor, Landon, and his great granddaughter Everleigh. Bernie was predeceased by his brother Dennis and will  be missed by his sisters Betty (Bill deceased) and Ann (Keith), and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was born May 26, 1939 to Rita and Bernard Murphy in Kingston Ont. He had a distinguished career for 40 years with the Bank of Montreal. He enjoyed his retirement at his beloved cottage in Sturgeon Falls, as well as travelling the world with his wife Gail, spending many winters in New Smyrna Beach Florida, and attending his “flex-pack” of Blue Jay games. Friends will be received at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 445 St. Vincent St. Barrie (just north of Cundles Rd.) on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9   p.m. with Parish prayers at 8:45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 65 Amelia Street, Barrie on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10 o’clock. Memorial donations to Chair in Voice Disorders through St. Michael’s Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
