(January 3, 1932 – March 14, 2019) - Eileen passed away peacefully on the 14th. of March 2019 at Hospice Simcoe at the age of 87. Eileen was the youngest daughter of Wally and Myrtle Murdoch of Oro Township. She grew up with her brothers and sisters at the gas station that was for many years located at the 6th Line and Highway 11.

Eileen is predeceased by her brothers Ross and Gord Murdoch and her sisters Eva Pearson, Evelyn Guthrie and Ruth Philipchuk. She is survived and sadly missed by her sister Dolores Caldwell along with many nieces and nephews for whom she was a very special “Ant.”

Eileen was an elementary school teacher for 35 years teaching for the first few years in small country schools. She then went on to teach for most of her career at Base Borden, with mainly grade 1 students. Eileen’s students were lucky indeed and she found so much joy in teaching their young minds.

In retirement Eileen’s’ greatest passion was in studying and documenting the history of Simcoe County churches. She is the proud author of a book entitled “We Worship the Lord in Simcoe County Churches” which is a photographic journal of almost every church in Simcoe County. She was also the historian of the family, researching and documenting the family tree and compiling photographic journals for each of her siblings.

Visitation will take place at First Baptist Church, 550 Grove St. E., Barrie, on Wednesday March 20th, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:30 a.m., with arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.  Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon at the church.

Special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the kind staff and volunteers of Hospice Simcoe. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church.
