Passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on July 26th, 2022 at the age of 94.  Predeceased by her husband John and son Wayne.  Mamie will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, including Margie and Sheila who were able to be by her side at the hospital.

‘Aunt Mamie’ lived a long and full life with happy and sad times, but she always persevered no matter how difficult things were.  The world feels like an unhappier place without her gentle acceptance of her situation.  One of her favourite sayings was “Oh well, what can you do?” And she would just carry on...

All who knew Mamie will miss this kind, loving and very generous woman who helped many people from Cape Breton get a start for a new life in Ontario: her home was always open for anyone who needed a place to stay, delicious food, and a warm welcome with no strings attached.

Mamie loved living in her cozy home in Oakville where she had many friends from the neighbourhood and from work.

She is now with her beloved son, Wayne; her husband, Johnny; her parents, Margaret and Angus; and her older brothers, Duncan, Melvin and Dan.

God bless you, Mamie.  You were loved very much and left behind nothing but happy memories of times spent with you.

Mamie will be buried in Oakville with Wayne and Johnny, with private family arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.
