Passed Peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 at the age of 81.

Margaret was born in Hemsworth, in the Old West Riding of Yorkshire, the youngest and last surviving of four children. She moved to Coventry around the age 11 to live with her eldest sister Sybil, her husband John and their three children. Margaret became more of a sister to her nieces and nephew, taking care of them and taking them on outings etc. She made frequent visits back to Yorkshire along with her nieces and nephew, travelling on Hall Brothers Charabanc from Coventry to Barnsley, She also enjoyed family holidays in Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire where all the families from Yorkshire and Coventry met up each year for two weeks of fun and sun.

After finishing her schooling, Margaret worked in administration at Armstrong Whitworths, where she made lots of friends and had an active social life. She took up ballroom dancing, becoming very good at it and winning certificates and medals. She loved shopping and going out to coffee bars, nearly always taking one of her nieces or nephews with her and was always cheerful with a wicked sense of humour even when life threw obstacles her way.

After her marriage to Colin she moved to an apartment near the family home in Coventry before deciding to relocate to Canada for a new chapter in her life.

Her nieces and nephew enjoyed hearing about her news and exploits in Canada, and they, in turn, enjoyed happy holidays in different locations around Ontario and further afield. Margaret regretted not being able to have children but she was always philosophical about it.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving husband Colin and forever remembered with love and great affection by her nieces Ann and Joan, nephew Michael, great nephews Paul and William, her many dear friends at Sandy Cove Acres, the Woodhouse / Ireland family, and especially by her life-long friends, Ken and Sharon Woodhouse.

Family and friends are invited to help celebrate Margaret’s life on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 at 11 am in the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home Chapel, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie. Following the service, guests are invited to share more memories during a reception luncheon in the Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Victoria Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Rest in Peace Margaret and God Bless.
