LCOL William G (Bill) Lindsay Ret’d

Passed away peacefully, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Sunday June 5th, 2016. Beloved husband of Diane for over 54 years. Loving father to Janyce (Bill) Allen, Marilyn Lindsay, Laura Lindsay, and Alexandra (James) Brill. He will be lovingly remembered by his 6 Grandchildren, Sydney and Samantha Allen, Danielle Schanck, Bryan and Calvin Hay and Curtis Allen.  He will be remembered by his brothers and sisters in law, Jack(Nancy) Ingram and Clay(Peggy) Ingram.  He will be sorely missed by his furry best friend Caesar and Grand dog Mirryn. Bill will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Bill will be remembered by his extended family and friends from Grandview Park, where he and Diane enjoyed 26 years on Buckhorn Lake.

Bill was born and educated in Winnipeg, MB. Where he started his military career in the Army Cadets. He joined the Militia in 1949 and then the regular army as a Private in 1950.  He served with the regular army until 1960 at which time he voluntarily retired. He rejoined the Militia in 1961 and after moving to London joined the 4th Batallion, Royal Canadian Regiment in 1965.  He served with the 4th Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment as Adjutant, Company Commander and Deputy Commanding Officer.  Bill took command of the 4th Battalion in 1971.  Bill formally retired from the Military on September 16th, 1975.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Hankey, Dr. Russell, and Dr. Ray for their wonderful care and compassion. Friends will be received at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 12:30 until time of Service in the Chapel at 2 o’clock p.m. Memorial Donations to the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
