Gerry passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 in his 90th year. Predecease by his parents Willemine and Lucas Krale. Beloved husband of the late Catharina (nee Bouman) Krale. Loved father of Janita Hilliard and her husband Don of Orillia, Lina Ludyka and her partner Pat Fox of Port Hope, Lucas Krale and his wife Tara of Barrie, Christina McDonald and her husband Doug of Huntsville. Loving grandfather of Tabitha (Scott), Tawnya, Alison (Lance), Andrea (Florent), Cameron, Brett, Ceilidh, William, Gerry and Logan. Proud great grandfather of 5. Predeceased by his siblings Koop, Klass, Aaltje and Arend. Lovingly remembered by in-laws, nieces and nephews in Holland. Will be missed by many long-time friends in Canada and Holland. Gerry was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1954 to start a new chapter in his life. He worked in Barrie for most of his life, being a Water Foreman at Public Utilities for the City of Barrie. He got married in 1957 to his love of his life and continued this journey with her for 55 years. Gerry was very sociable and loved spending time with his family, friends and pet dogs and cats. Guests to be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 from 1:30 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm inside the chapel. A reception to follow inside the lower lounge. Internment to take place at Barrie Union Cemetery in the Spring. Donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
