It is with great sadness that the family of Mary T. Kolody announces her passing on Sunday May 27, 2018 at the age of 71, after a valiant battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her sister and best friend Emily Makad (née Kolody) as well as by her brother-in-law Charles Makad. Her memory will be forever cherished by her three ‘poopsies’, Jeannette Makad, Catherine Makad-Smith (Neil), and Geoffrey Makad. Mary was already a great Aunt, but the title was made official by her Great-Niece Quinn and Great-Nephew Ethan whose young lives were greatly enriched by their Great-Aunt “Maury”. Mary’s many friends will always remember her kindness and generosity which were narrowly outmatched by her unique sense of style.
In remembrance of this larger than life lady, a celebration of life gathering will be held in July with details to follow. Please feel free to bring along memories, stories, and photos to share. As an expression of sympathy, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mary’s memory to Furry Friends, a charity that she has volunteered with and greatly supported, or the Barrie Public Library to ensure that Mary’s love of reading and thirst for knowledge continues on for future generations to enjoy.
