KIRK, Michael George

(March 23, 1933 - October 8, 2016) - Passed away suddenly in his 83rd year at his home in Barrie, Ontario. Husband to one, father of five, grandfather to 10, friend to hundreds. His passing came as a shock to all those who knew and loved him. Mike immigrated from Scotland to Toronto with his wife of 58 years Violet (nee Walker) in 1964  with their two boys Michael and Gary, where they continued to add to the family with John and Allison. He dedicated his entire life to the love of his life Violet and his children. As a master Scottish butcher, he spent the bulk of his career with Dominion stores managing various meat departments at stores across the GTA, mentoring hundreds of young men and women. An avid golfer, he will be missed by the golf community at Shanty Bay Golf Club in Barrie. He is survived by his wife Violet, sisters Elizabeth and Agnus and brother Bill. A Celebration of his life will be held at the JENNETT FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTRE, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Friday October 14th at 3:00p.m. Visitation from 2:00p.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
