JAMIESON, Ila Alberta

Posted

Ila
After 91 active years Ila peacefully left us Saturday, June 8,  2019.  Predeceased by her husband William Alexander Graham Jamieson. Her outlook was shaped by The Great Depression and Second World War. Ila joined the war effort in her teens building motors at Clyde Aircraft in Collingwood. She often recalled the excitement of being a new, young hairdresser in Bala and the wonderful summer nights dancing to the Big Bands at the Key to Bala in the 40’s.  In the 50’s, her working career continued at Canadian General Electric, Barrie until the birth of her children.  Later circumstances found her as department manager at Woolworths where she served most of Barrie.  She never forgot names, their children and their stories; in fact she rarely forgot Anything. Head of the book department nourished her love of books.  By the end of her life our public library was challenged to keep up with her book consumption. Cremation entrusted to Marshall W. Driver Cremation & Burial Service, 19 Ross St., Barrie.
