HOSKI, Pearl Polly

The family of Pearl (Skobleniuk) Hoski wish to announce her peaceful passing in her bed in her home on June 11th, 2016 of natural causes. Born on February 19th 1924, Pearl was the youngest of eight siblings growing up on a farm in Malonton, Manitoba.  At the age of 18 she left for Toronto where she found work in a plant building airplanes for the war.  It was in Toronto that she met William (Bill) Hoski who became her husband of 54 years until his passing in 1999.  From Toronto, Pearl and Bill moved to Wawa, Ontario in 1964 where they were owners/operators of a motel for 26 years.  In 1991 they moved to Barrie Ontario to be closer to old friends from their Toronto years and their son. Pearl was a kind, gentle and loving person, finding contentment in her garden, her walks and her family.  She was a wonderful mother, selfless and hard working.  Pearl had the rare quality of seeing only the good in people, genuinely accepting them for who they were with an open heart.  She loved to dance and sing, and was still singing songs with her support workers to the end. Songs of Hank Williams and Anne Murray were often heard emanating from the kitchen when Pearl was still able to prepare her wonderful perogies or lovingly crafted chicken soup. She loved animals and it was wonderful to see the daily joy that the family dog Rosie gave her. Pearl was very appreciative of all the wonderful care that her PSWs provided for her, particularly from her long standing ‘girls’ Sandra, Betty-Anne, Irene and Pam and was always looking forward to seeing them. She is survived by her son Robert (Sabrina) and her sister Doris Maliborski (100 years old!) of Winnipeg and many other family members in Manitoba and British Columbia. As her niece Linda so aptly stated; ‘heaven will be richer with the arrival of your beautiful mother whose heart was bigger than she ever could be’.  Pearl will be very much missed. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
