Peacefully at home with his wife by his side after a courageous battle. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean for 60 years. Loving and devoted father of Jim (Joanne) and John. Proud Papa Don of Shannon, Rebecca, Thomas, and great Papa Don of Jesse and Colton. Survived by sister Diana Thurlow Newton (George). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends. Don was past president and a long-time member of Probus Club Mississauga center and will be dearly missed. Guests will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Road, Barrie, on Thursday November 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Don’s life will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, November 3, starting at 12 pm. Visitation from 11 am. A Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and are greatly appreciated.
