Peacefully at Grove Park Home, Barrie, on Monday February 1st, 2016 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Marlene Hawkins. Dear father of Dan Hawkins and partner Debbie, and Judy Hawkins. Survived by sister Jean King (Floyd). Predeceased by sister Helen Sherry. Proud Grandpa of Justin, Ashley, Brittny, and Ryan. Forever remembered and loved by Catherine and the Riffer family. Sadly missed by many dear nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie on Sunday February 7th, from 12pm until the time we celebrate Vern’s life in the Chapel at 1pm. A Reception will follow. Interment will take place at Guthrie Cemetery in the spring. Vern and the family have always appreciated the patronage and friendship of the colleagues and customers over the many years.
