Joe joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in 1951, serving with the U.N. forces in Korea, where he was wounded, then transferring to the Canadian Provost Corps in 1953 serving in Canada and with NATO forces in Europe. Barrie became his chosen home. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doreen, in 2004, and by his parents, William and Margaret Hart (nee Matheson); siblings Christine, Charles, Bertha (Bea), Kenneth, Donald, Norman, James, Milton (Bill), Margaret, Gordon, Harold and Sheila. He is survived by his brother, John, of Alberta, and several nieces and nephews in Canada and Europe. The family wishes to thank all who were involved in supporting and caring for Joe during the past several months, including the staff at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Orillia and the Coleman Care Centre in Barrie.
