FINNIS, Thomas William

(August 27, 1945 – December 16, 2015) - Tom passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday December 16th 2015 in his 70th year. Cherished husband to Marilyn Finnis. Caring father to Timothy. Loving son of the late William T. and Rita Finnis and predeceased by his sister, Susan Carrier. Tom grew up in Barrie (Tollendale), attending Painswick Elementary School then subsequently Barrie Central Collegiate, graduating in 1964. After graduation, for the next six years Tom relocated to the Financial District of Toronto, pursuing a career in the discipline of finance as a loans officer for the Bank of Nova Scotia. He would later choose to return to his hometown of Barrie, perpetuating his financial career where he had grown-up. He would later transition into a sales position, then subsequently to self employment, from which he would retire. Tom was a proud, hard working individual, who took pride in whatever he chose to undertake. He was very meticulous, industrious and conscientious with respect to each and every task he pursued. Tom enjoyed any motorized sport, particularly snowmobiling during the winter with his friends and power-boating on Lake Simcoe in summer. Anything mechanical and/or structural would also attract his attention and he spent hours with any such undertaking that would challenge his mind, body and will. You will be missed by many Thomas, may you rest well. Love your family.
