FINDLAY, Agnes

Posted

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Granny, Agnes Findlay. Agnes passed away peacefully in her 85th year on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18th, 2017 while residing at Mill Creek Care Centre. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, James Findlay. Agnes was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1955 with her husband and son making Ontario, Canada their home. Agnes was the loving Mother of Alan (Kim) and daughter Wendy (Leo, "Big Pal") Koopmans. Agnes known as "Granny" was fiercely proud of her title and of her grandchildren and great grandchild. She always instilled in them a sense of pride and determination and treasured the times they spent together. They learned from a young age of their Scottish heritage and how she was equally as proud of that. Forever touched by her and left with a lifetime of memories are her grandchildren, Andrew, Stuart, Kirsty, Callum, Mackenzie and great grandson Jackson. The family wishes a very heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, personal support workers (Special Angels), and the cleaning staff at Mill Creek Care Center. The care, compassion and dignity they displayed to our Mother and our family was above and beyond. Friends and family will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minets Point Road, Barrie, on Saturday, July 8th 2017 for a service starting at 1:00 p.m. Celebration of Life to follow in the lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes' name to the Alzheimer's Society and are appreciated by the family. Online memories and condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com.
