ETTER, Alice (nee Vlielander)

Passed peacefully on March 18th, 2020 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Gordon for 67 years. Loving mother of Bryan (Elizabeth) and Cheryl (Jonathan Tice). Cherished grandmother of Kelly (Kyle Guthro), Kristin (Josh D’Alvise), Jamie and Haley. Survived by her brothers John and Leonard. Predeceased by sisters Marilyn, Karline and Frances. Will be sadly missed by her grand-dogs Kodi, Casey and Marvin.
Alice grew up on a farm near Fort MacLeod Alberta and met the love of her life Gordon Etter in Edmonton. They were married in 1953 and moved east to the Toronto area a few years later where they spent the rest of their lives. Alice was a kind and loving person, hard working, and devoted to her family. She loved her gardens where she would spend many an hour. She gave her family a wonderful life and we will cherish our memories of her forever.
Cremation has taken place, with private family arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Royal Victoria Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion provided to Mom. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army in memory of Alice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
