Passed away peacefully at the IOOF in Barrie on Wednesday April 25th 2018. Predeceased by beloved husband Gordon (January 24th 1968). Loving mother of Larry Emrick (Diana) of Vancouver and Dianne Andrews (Wayne) of Barrie. Dear Granny to Pippa Emrick-MacPhee (Chris), Lee Andrews (Kristen) and Erin Andrews (Ryan Griffiths). Cherished Great Grandmother to Zoey Andrews and Sutton and Hadley Griffiths. Survived by her loving sister, Elaine Speare, and brother, Louis Webb. Special friend to neighbours Karla and Bill.
Doris was a very independent, self-reliant woman who enjoyed a life time commitment to St Pauls Anglican Church and nearly twenty years reading with students at Assikinack Public School. She was an avid reader, friendly neighbour, willing helper and was very proud of her home and family.
Doris made a gracious and contented transition to IOOF in 2015. We are very thankful for the care, respect and affection she received by the staff of Simcoe Lodge, the “family” she needed and so appreciated. Friends may call at the JENNETT FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTRE, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Tuesday May 1st from 10:00 am until time service at 11:00 am. Reception to follow. Burial to take place at a later date at Sixth Line Cemetery. In Doris’ honour, donations to the IOOF Redevelopment Fund would be appreciated by the family.
