After a long and chaotic life of 91 years, Muriel died peacefully at RVH on Wednesday, Dec. 6. She leaves behind a grieving family – her husband of 69 years, Doug. A sister, Nora. Children – Frank (Elizabeth), Douglas (Jessica) and Connie (Joe). Grandchildren –Kate, Rachel and Krystina Eggins; Adam, Daniel and Jeremy Pace; Chandler, Josh and William Eggins. Great grandchildren – Jack, Clare and Gabe, Sigwan, Avery and Nicole, Ethan and Hannah. In spite of her terror of water, Muriel came to Canada in 1952 by boat, with two young children. She and Doug and the two, later three, children led a bit of a gypsy life. After living in over twenty locations between Chelsea Quebec and Shipka Ontario they finally decided on their present location in 2002. Doug and Muriel retired in Barrie and have lived a record 15 years at the same address. Muriel was an artist. She enjoyed sculpting, but found her true calling when she discovered quilting and then spinning and weaving. Muriel and Doug enjoyed camping in the great outdoors of northern Ontario, especially Pancake Bay. Despite her sometimes chilly Britishness, she had great warmth that most people recognized. We cannot begin to describe how very much she will be missed.
Family and friends may call at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie Ontario) Visitation will be held on Tuesday Dec. 12, 2017 from 11-12 with a Service at 12 and a reception to follow.
