We are saddened to announce the passing of Evon Blanche Dunford, in her 83rd year, surrounded by her family at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie Ontario on October 9, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Evon was born on June 22, 1934 in Creston South / Marystown Newfoundland. Wife of the late Richard Dunford, she is predeceased by her parents Archibald and Sophie Crocker, sister Millie Peach, and brother Frazer Crocker. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Jerry (Carroll) of Winnipeg MB., Randy (Connie) of Brampton ON., Tom of Penticton BC., and daughters Debbie Hunter (Greg) of Barrie ON., and Michelle Muise (Ricky) of Kitchener ON. Proud “nana” to ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Fondly remembered by siblings: Etta Foote of Burin NL., George Crocker (Nancy) of Halifax NS., Lilian Crocker-Day (Gerald) of Garnish NL., Melvina Banadyga (Ken) of Calgary AB., Barbara Brake (Norbert) of Mooring Cove NL., Wesley Crocker (Rowena) of St. Johns NL., Adelaide Clarke (Herbert) of Port-aux-Bras NL., Glenda Mayo (Robert) of Creston NL., Beverly Crocker Bell (Ralph) Calgary AB., Freeman Crocker (Shirley) of Creston NL., Elsie Crocker of Creston, BC., and Jason Crocker (Winnie) Drayton, ON. Special thanks to Hospice Simcoe for going “above and beyond” in providing an unparalleled experience in compassionate, peaceful and thoughtful care. Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 11 a.m. until the time we celebrate Evon’s life in the chapel at 1 p.m. (Toronto time). Following interment at Barrie Union Cemetery, guests are invited back to the funeral home for a reception luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated by the family.
