DINSMORE, Leona (nee Atkinson)

On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Leona Winnifred Dinsmore (nee Atkinson) passed peacefully into the presence of her saviour in her 94th year. Leona was the beloved wife of the late Ross Dinsmore and was the loving mother of Debbie (Chris Battler) of Barrie, and Kathy of Kitchener. She loved being a grandmother to Megan Gilsenan (Michael Manchur) and Erin Gilsenan (Andrew Slaney), and her great-grandson Wyatt always brought a smile to her face. She is survived by her brother Eldon Atkinson and his wife Shirley, and was predeceased by her brother Gordon Atkinson. She will be warmly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Born in Barrie on October 18, 1924, Leona was the youngest child of George and Winnifred Atkinson. Leona married Ross in 1958 and spent many happy years raising her family, and building their business, Ross Dinsmore Heating. They loved camping, boating, and travelling throughout Canada and the U.S.A. Leona was known for her kindness and hospitality, and guests were always welcome in her home.

The visitation and funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 374 Salem Road, Barrie on Friday, September 14. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
