It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne Anthony DeSilva on May 9, 2017 at the IOOF in Barrie, Ontario. Wayne is survived by his two sisters, Bonnie DeSilva and Kim Seidl, two sons, Todd (Val) and Troy (Tamara). Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jeremy and Isabelle and niece Jennifer (Jim) and Jonathon; many cousins from the Kelly Clan and DeSilva Clan. Wayne is predeceased by his parents Wally and Marie DeSilva. Wayne was a student at both St. Monica’s Catholic School and Barrie North Collegiate. He had a great love of music; was a member of Rock and Roll bands. He also taught drums for a couple of years at The Royal Conservatory of Music. Wayne belonged to two pipe bands in the Drum Corp. Wayne belonged to the Navy League and Sea Cadets of Barrie. He enjoyed song writing and producing music. He was a member of the Barrie Legion and Army Navy Air Force Club. Wayne enjoyed riding his motorcycles in the good weather and snowmobiling in the winter. Wayne always had a wicked sense of humor. When he was with his Dad Wally, he would have everyone in stitches. In the last three years, Wayne had suffered health issues and resided at the IOOF Seniors Home. A special thanks to the entire staff for their special care. He was well liked by staff. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life followed by an interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Barrie will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home in Barrie. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family through www.steckleygooderham.com.
