DAY, Shirley

Passed away Peacefully in her sleep on the morning of October 15 with her family comforting her as she left this world. Born January 9 1935 she lived a life helping others in many ways. She is predeceased by her loving husband Danny Day. She will be missed by her son Leonard Day and Daughter-in-law law Angela Day and grand children Jessica Day and Zachary Day. A former Brown Owl and Guide Leader, volunteer at King Edward school, a long time parishioner at St. George’s Anglican Church, a former President of the Barrie Lioness club, Charter member of Barrie South Lions Club and past president and long time volunteer at the CNIB office. Shirley enjoyed helping make our community a better place an making people’s lives better at home and around the world. She made an impact in the lives of many people. She lived by the Lions Code of Ethics and its Motto “We Serve”. Visitation will be on Saturday October 20 Steckley- Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Mint’s Point Road, Barrie from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and from 7:00pm -9:00pm. A Lions club service we be at 6:30pm. The Funeral will be on Sunday October 21 at 2:30pm St. George’s Anglican Church 9 Granville Street, Barrie with a reception to follow. In Leu of flowers Donations would be appreciated and can be made to the Lions of Canada Fund for LCIF, the CNIB or to St. Georges Church
