William Alfred (Bill) Darby passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Barrie, ON. Born July 10, 1925, in Toronto to William Arthur and Elsie (Fry) Darby, he was in his 92nd year.  Bill was married on Aug. 2, 1947, to Ruth Frances Baynes in Bradford.  For many years they owned and operated a garage and restaurant business on Hwy. 11 north of Barrie.  After selling it, Bill worked as a carpenter for the Ministry of Community and Social Services.  He and Ruth enjoyed many years together at their home on Lake Simcoe.

Bill was an avid trapper, fisherman and hunter. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, son Don and sister Thelma Masters. He is survived by sons Bill (Deb) and Carl; Grandchildren Laura, Shannon, Laurence (Sarah), Greg (Tabatha) and Don (Michelle), and Great Grandchildren Taylor, Madison and Miles. The family wants to sincerely thank staff of the I.O.O.F. Seniors Home in Barrie for the excellent care they gave Bill.

Visitation will be held at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie) on Friday April 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 11AM. Memorial donations may be made to the I.O.O.F. Seniors Home( 10 Brooks St., Barrie, ON L4N 5L3) or to the Barrie District Hunters and Anglers Conservation Club ( c/o President Wayne Forgrave, 27 Hillview Crescent, Midhurst, ON L9X 1N2).
