After a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, it is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joan Elizabeth Crompton, in her 87th year, on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 surrounded by family at Victoria Village in Barrie.

Joan was born in Barrie, Ontario on June 27th, 1932, where she attended Burton Ave. Public School, and Burton United Church. Graduated from business college, Joan worked at Sears Canada for 25 years in the cash office, retiring in September of 91. Joan is the cherished mother of Greg Crompton, Jody Crompton (Gord Stevenson), and pre-deceased by daughter Sherri Lovegrove (Ken). Proud grandma of Christopher Lovegrove (Mary), Kendra Lovegrove (Bre), Stuart Birrell, and the late Paige Birrell. Loving great-grandma of Max Birrell. Predeceased by brother Don (Betty), and Tommy. Joan will be sadly missed by all her nieces, nephews, family, relatives and friends.

Joan’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Victoria Village for the exceptional love and care shown to Joan during her 6 years of residence.

Friends may call at the JENNETT FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTRE, 152 Bradford St., Barrie, on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 for Visitation from 11:00a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00p.m. Reception to follow. Spring interment at Barrie Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, or Victoria Village.
